Built by Hands That Remember
A Hotel That Was Never Designed
IM Cultural Village was not conceived in an architect's studio or plotted on a developer's spreadsheet. It grew — the way a village grows — from the soil, the stories, and the hands of the people who have called the Mithila region home for three thousand years.
The founder's vision was simple and radical: what if we stopped building hotels and started growing them? What if every wall was shaped by the same hands that paint the sacred fish during Chaath Puja? What if every pillar was carved by the grandson of the man who carved the one before it?
The result is not a replica or a theme park. It is a living, breathing piece of Mithila civilization — with air conditioning, comfortable beds, and impeccable hospitality. The mud-plastered walls are real. The Mithila paintings are original, created by our resident artists whose families have carried this tradition through dynasties, invasions, and the relentless march of modernization.

Mithila: The Soul of Our Walls
Mithila art — also known as Mithila painting — is one of the oldest living art traditions on Earth. For centuries, the women of the Mithila region have painted their walls and floors with sacred geometry, mythological scenes, and the natural world rendered in bold, black outlines filled with vibrant pigments derived from turmeric, indigo, vermillion, and lamp soot.
At IM Cultural Village, this art is not decoration. It is the DNA of our architecture. Our resident artists paint our walls daily, teach workshops to guests, and carry forward a tradition that UNESCO has recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.
What We Stand For
Cultural Preservation
Every rupee spent here supports artisans, performers, and farmers in the Mithila region. We are not just a hotel — we are a livelihood ecosystem.
Authentic Experience
Nothing here is fake. The art is real. The food is ancestral. The stories are true. We believe luxury can be authentic.
Sustainable Tourism
Our cottages are built from local earth, our food is sourced from neighboring farms, and our water is harvested from the monsoon.
Community First
Over 90% of our staff are from the local Mithila community. Every guest stay creates direct income for dozens of families.
Living Heritage
We do not preserve culture behind glass. We let it breathe, cook, dance, paint, and evolve — as it has for millennia.
Warm Hospitality
In Maithili, the word for guest is "atithi" — the one without a fixed arrival. Here, every arrival feels like a homecoming.

“Here, the past is not preserved behind glass. It breathes.”
